1.Nitrates (e.g., nitroglycerin, isosorbide dinitrate): Cialis and nitrates both lower blood pressure. Taking them together can cause a significant and potentially life-threatening drop in blood pressure (hypotension), leading to dizziness, fainting, or even heart attack or stroke. It is contraindicated to use Cialis with nitrates or recreational "poppers" (amyl nitrites).
2.Alpha-blockers (e.g., prazosin, terazosin, tamsulosin): Both Cialis and alpha-blockers relax blood vessels, which can lead to excessive blood pressure reduction when used together. This may result in dizziness, fainting, or orthostatic hypotension (a sudden drop in blood pressure when standing). If needed, your doctor may adjust the dosage or recommend spacing the medications.
3.Other antihypertensive drugs (e.g., atenolol, propranolol, enalapril, lisinopril): Cialis can enhance the blood-pressure-lowering effects of these medications. While this interaction is usually less severe than with nitrates or alpha-blockers, it can still cause dizziness or fainting in sensitive individuals. Close monitoring of blood pressure is recommended.

A new federal law mandates the U. S. Food and Drug Administration to approve the use of erectile dysfunction drugs like Viagra, Cialis, Levitra and more.
The law,, was the first federal law to require the Food and Drug Administration to approve the use of prescription drugs like Viagra and Cialis, a class of drugs that treats erectile dysfunction.
In a move expected to take place over the next few weeks, the Food and Drug Administration on Tuesday approved the sale of Viagra, Cialis and Levitra for the first time in more than a decade.
The drug is already available over the counter in Canada, but the Food and Drug Administration hasn't approved that use. The drug will be sold under the name "Sildenafil," or as the drug's brand name is.
The drug is available only by prescription in Canada and in the United States, which is where the U. Food and Drug Administration has approved Viagra, Cialis and Levitra.
The new law is the first to require the FDA to approve the use of prescription drugs that treat erectile dysfunction, such as Viagra.
"We believe this is a great step to begin the process of making this medication available to patients and their physicians," said John Smith, the FDA's commissioner. "It's a great step in that direction because the FDA has the authority to approve the sale of prescription drugs, it has the authority to do that, and we'll be working on it."
But the move is not expected to take place over the next few weeks, he said.
The new law, the second of two federal drugs that will be approved, will allow men to use Viagra, Cialis and Levitra to treat erectile dysfunction, the latter of which also contains the active ingredient tadalafil.
Under the new law, men must have at least a 20-day supply of the drug at their local pharmacy and must be treated for erectile dysfunction with no side effects.
"This is the first time the FDA has approved a prescription drug that treats erectile dysfunction," said Jim McCaffery, director of the National Center for Health Policy and Research.
McCaffery said the new law will ensure that the use of these drugs can be regulated and that they are available in a way that is convenient and easy for men to use.
"It will allow men who have previously been treated for erectile dysfunction to have the opportunity to make this medication available to patients who are ready to start treatment with it," McCaffery said. "That will enable them to have access to these products without having to leave the office."
The new law requires a prescription drug to be dispensed at a pharmacy and will require men to be able to buy a copy of the drug, and men who have recently used Viagra to treat their erectile dysfunction must also be able to fill the prescription.
The new law also requires the FDA to require the use of certain drugs to be approved at an approved price, such as a prescription and over the counter medicine for erectile dysfunction, called sildenafil. Viagra, the drug that is marketed for erectile dysfunction, is available over the counter only in Canada.
The move is not expected to take place until March, but McCaffery said the FDA is in the process of approving the new law.
"As we have been working on it, we have not been able to make it work on the existing rules, but this will take place as soon as we have a decision made," McCaffery said.
McCarthy said the FDA is also working to address questions of how drugs can be used safely.
"We have a very strong argument to offer the FDA that there's a strong argument that we can use the drugs safely and that they have the potential to improve the quality of life for many men," he said.
If approved, the new law would allow people to buy the drug without a prescription, without needing to see a doctor. It would also allow people to use the drug to treat their erectile dysfunction without a doctor's prescription, which would eliminate the need for men to visit a doctor to get a prescription.
The new law requires the FDA to take the first step in approving new drugs.
